Human rights first

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child put forth that one primary purpose of schools is to develop respect for human rights and the fundamental freedoms that all children should enjoy. They noted that to truly understand and promote human rights, one has to live them out in relation to others.

The New York City schools has taken this directive seriously and to heart by creating its School for Human Rights, a combined middle and high school academy that is built around the concept of human rights. It is one of nearly 150 small public schools opened through special initiatives in the last three years by the New York City schools, having opened its doors in September 2004. During the New York City schools’ school year 2005-2006, the School of Human Rights had over 180 students.

Located in Brooklyn, the School for Human Rights is rare, even for the New York City schools. Its core values are dignity, respect and responsibility, which is the driving force behind its curriculum, how the students learn and the teachers teach, how they treat one another, and the types of adults the New York City schools hope the students become. Human rights are demonstrated to students by how the school meets the educational needs of each and every student; in its practices, such as discipline with dignity; examples given in class, questions raised by teachers, the active discussions, critical thinking and reflection that are part of the project-based coursework; and even in the human rights enriching field trips.

The School of Human Rights is the only New York City schools that integrates an academic and social skills-based curriculum. It even immerses human rights into its extracurricular activities, such as film festivals and workshops with human rights defenders.

The School of Human Rights challenges the New York City schools students to become compassionate and socially engaged young adults, who are committed to equality, dignity and social consciousness. Amnesty International USA, Human Rights Education Association, and New Visions for Public Schools, who have partnered with the New York City schools and made this school possible, hope to see many of these New York City schools’ students carry over what they learn into their adult lives, as well as to enter social justice careers.

The New York City schools based the School for Human Rights on UNICEF’s framework to:

• Recognize the rights of every child;

• See the whole child in a broad context, in the home environment as well as at school;

• Be child centered, ensuring the psychological and social well being of each child;

• Be gender sensitive and girl friendly by eliminating stereotypes and constraints to education, while promoting achievement;

• Promote quality learning outcomes;

• Base education on each child’s unique identity, previous school experience, community, and family;

• Promote New York City schools’ student rights and responsibilities within the school environment, including ensuring inclusion, respect and equality of opportunity for each child;

• Enhance New York City schools’ teacher capacity, morale, commitment and status, and

• Be family focused.

To ensure the School of Human Rights teachers have the resources and professional development they need, the Human Rights Education Association provides this support to the New York City schools. Teachers have found that the most difficult task is presenting human rights in a meaningful and empowering manner, making human rights more than an abstract concept.

Darfur human rights

Rap Artist Kanye West had this to say: "George Bush doesn't care about black people!" -- Said during a Hurricane Katrina telethon.

After the Katrina disaster many polls indicated that large majorities of blacks believed that the federal response to Hurricane Katrina would have been considerably speedier had those trapped in New Orleans been rich and white, and that the slow response was an indication of continuing racial inequity in this country.

Most whites disagreed.

A poll average indicated that 72 percent of blacks thought Bush doesn't care, while only 26 percent of whites thought likewise, meaning a 74 percent majority of whites believe that Bush cares. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, said: "I do not think that this president cares about everybody in America..."

Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State, as expected -- defended Bush. Condoleezza, like Colin Powell are examples of blacks who have allowed themselves to be used by the Republican Party "for an illusion of 'black' inclusion," -- a party which not only acts, but commits to things anti-black and anti-minority for good measure.

Usually, when a professional team performs dismally, the coach is the first to go, even if the failure is with the players -- hence, the blame on Bush. In this instance, I believe the blame should be spread across the "system," a system initially born of hypocrisy and nurtured in racism and oppression, and which still does not sufficiently address stark inequities across this great nation.

Now, pictures don't lie[6]. African Americans were hit hardest. These pictures portray "3rd world living" in a first world nation.

Lets turn to Africa and Africans.

Over the years most U.S. presidents have not really cared about Africans, mainly Republican presidents, and I am not letting the Democrats off the rope either, for example Bill Clinton sat in the Oval office, busy "serenading" Monica Lewinsky, while Rwandans slit each others throats. Classified papers show Clinton was aware of "final solution"[1] to eliminate Tutsis, but buried the information to justify U.S. inaction.

Africans are ultimately responsible for their fate, but for a Superpower, that has colluded with Africa's former colonial masters -- to plant seeds of discord[2] in the continent, and to rape it bare of it's natural resources [in concert with some African dictators],...to date, to sit back and watch, is in my view unequivocally detestable.

Perhaps the biggest culprit of them all is Ronald Reagan -- "A serial liar with a Heart of Darkness who made Americans feel good about themselves[3]." To Reagan, Africans, Black Americans and Homosexuals were expendable, as he ignored and mocked the onslaught of AIDS[4], and propped up the apartheid regime of South Africa, a country with vast deposits of industrial diamonds.

At the peak of apartheid, in 1985, Ronald Reagan had the gall to proclaim that the "reformist administration" of South Africa had "eliminated the segregation that we once had in our own country." In 1986, Reagan gave a speech where he said Mandela should be released but denounced sanctions with crocodile tears, claiming that they would "hurt black workers," who were already ridiculously impoverished.

Reagan's legacy was: "Immoral, evil, and totally un-Christian." -- These were the words of Bishop Desmond Tutu, spoken on Capitol Hill at a US committee hearing in late 1984. It was just after Reagan's easy re-election. Tutu had just been awarded the Nobel peace prize for his non-violent struggle against apartheid in South Africa.

Yet, American companies continued to do business with racist South Africa under the stewardship of the "president of sunny optimism."

Meanwhile, apartheid rained death on black Africans.

American governments do not care about Africa -- they never bothered about Rwanda [Clinton], and Bush has not bothered about Darfur until now, after hundreds of thousands have been killed by the despicable and moronic militia, the Janjaweed -- supported by an "Islamic Terrorist" government of the Sudan, that does "OIL" business with large U.S. companies.

Now, that his legacy seems headed to the dustbin, and amidst intense pleading by the International community -- Bush suddenly cares?

Do I think Bush is a bigot. No. I think he is part of a predatory, lying, devious and hypocritical system, an elitist system of government that doesn't really care about the poor, and whenever they seem to do, it is always with debilitating strings attached.

Some may argue that the United States gives the third world millions of dollars in aid. That's a fallacy, for most U.S. aid actually winds up subsidizing American corporations. So, U.S. foreign aid serves not only as a coercive instrument of foreign policy but also to support private U.S. contractors, universities, banks, consulting firms, lobbyists, and many others. Foreign aid is a lucrative business, and America always ends "repatriating more" back to the United States than what it "donates" as "foreign aid."

STOP! Wonder why illegal migrants are flocking into the United States?

Click here[5] to find out how greedy the "First World" is.

The world bank, whose leader is appointed by the sitting U.S. president, is a monstrous arm-twisting tool used to "coordinate" American interests in the third world, and the sorry fact that some third world leaders are a bunch of heartless nincompoops, just worsens the situation. They steal the "Foreign Aid," profit from it and repatriate the proceeds back to western banks -- whose governments look the other way.

Bush's Darfur initiative -- is a little too late? Probably. As for AIDs -- Better late than never.

That said, the Sudanese government is guilty of "ethnic cleansing" and crimes against humanity, crimes against black Sudanese peasants, and the leaders of this regime must be brought to justice.

This is the war Bush should be fighting and not the bottomless pit in Iraq that reportedly has claimed close to a million Iraqi lives and thousands of U.S. military men and women, not forgetting the millions who have been driven away from their homes.

European human rights

I am sure you have wondered what the truth is about the prices of wigs made from European human hair. From shop to shop you will find a huge variation in prices - anywhere from 300 USD to as high as 10.000 USD (!). So let me take you through each step of the process of producing high quality handmade wigs, and show the real costs.

Firstly, take the acquisition of hair. The cost of hair for one wig (0,2 to 0,4 kg) varies from 30 to 40 USD throughout most Eastern European countries. There is little variation there, but an important additional cost is incurred by high-quality wig-makers who collect hair in an appropriate and well-controlled way. The best wig-makers visit hairdressers and care for the hair themselves, using no middleman. They do not buy hair from wholesalers because wholesalers blend hair, because it is so time-consuming to acquire really good hair. One simply has to find a girl among hairdresser's clients that has beautiful, healthy hair and who wants it cut. The hairdresser can offer a free service to such a girl and actually pay her for her hair - and clearly both sides benefit from such a transaction. But this shows that, by its very nature, acquisition of good-quality hair cannot be a simple large-scale automatic process. That explains why outside of Eastern Europe the price of acquiring good quality hair is skyrocketing - not because the hair in itself is expensive, but because of its rarity. It is difficult to imagine a large-scale cheap process of acquiring high quality human hair in European countries.

Second, take the other materials used in making wigs. These are not expensive and their costs do not exceed 50 USD for a typical wig. These are the materials used to produce a cap. More and more wig-makers are now buying ready-made caps, so called "monofilament", which are gaining popularity and their cost is not very high.

Third, take the labor involved in making high quality handmade wigs. This is the main cost factor. Handmade wig needs at least a week to be produced by an experienced expert worker. It takes a week of hard work, with each hair being knitted to the cap with a very small crochet-needle or glued with a special glue. In the case of long hair, the production time could be two to three weeks. Reliable wig-makers knit hair with a double-knot which makes the construction much more durable but needs some extra work-time. Depending on the type of wig, length of hair and type of cap the cost of labor is from 150 to 300 USD.

Finally, you cannot forget other typical business costs - investment's amortization, management costs, taxes, insurances, rent, and profit. Altogether, the price of a handmade human hair wig made from European hair cannot be lower than 500-600 USD even for the shortest hair. There is no upper limit and it only depends on how much a customer is willing to pay, but before you pay 1000 USD or more for your wig remember the real costs of its creation.

And now for a real mystery. Why are European human hair wigs not made in China where labor costs are much lower than in Poland, Russia, or the Czech Republic? The main reason is no good quality European human hair available in large enough quantities to make profitable large-scale production in China possible. This is because wig-makers in Eastern European countries are buying all of the available hair for their own production. Surprising? - but that is how it is. And that is why most of wigs produced in China are made of Asian hair or blended hair widely available on a wholesale market.

Shropshire Divorce Solicitor leading the Family Law team at Martin Kaye Solicitors in Telford warns divorcing couples after a husband leads a divorce “pay fight”.

The Telford Solicitor said that “well-publicized divorce cases have led to several wives becoming millionaires in their own right. But now, it seems some of the husbands are planning to take action and many others could follow suit.”

It has been announced that Alan Miller, who was instructed to pay his wife £5 million – even though they had only been married for 18 months – has decided to challenge the ruling in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

“His original case and its result set the standard for this kind of case, and it has had far-reaching effects in divorce courts all over the UK,”.

The Court decided no matter how long a couple had been married, the starting point for dividing the assets should be a 50-50 split. And although they said Mrs Miller did not ‘need’ 50% of the assets, they decided that was irrelevant, and that the assets should be divided equally. Mr Miller claimed that the law was now “confused and unpredictable” as family court judges were given too much discretion. He also claims the payout to his former wife had breached his human rights and is challenging the decision.

“The same rules were applied to the case of Mr and Mrs Charman, and paved the way for her £48 million payout, despite the fact that Mrs Charman had run the home and it was Mr Charman who had built up the major share of their assets.”

“Family Law teams such as ours will be following this appeal with great interest, as the European Court’s decision could have massive implications for day-to-day divorce hearings. District Judges work very hard to reach sensible decisions based on what is fair and reasonable, and they will no doubt be pleased to receive clearer guidance on the approach they should be taking.”

Couples considering divorce are strongly advised to seek legal advice from a specialist divorce solicitor.

Human rights information

Energy And Information

The Chinese talk about Qi as the fundamental energy in the universe. It's also called Ki, chi, prana, and manna in other cultures., and in Star Wars it’s called The Force. No matter what it's called, this building block consists of two main components. The first is force. This is the most common way of thinking of Qi because Qi was introduced to the west through martial arts… and let’s face it, breaking boards and bricks is all about power. The other, more critical part is information. Really, this is the most important component, and the way to understand it is to think of a television signal.

A TV signal may be sent to a TV from a variety of different sources. A broadcast signal, a cable signal, and a DVD player are all examples of different signal sources. On the one hand a broadcast signal has a lot of power. In some cases it has thousands and thousands of watts. On the other hand a cable signal is very weak, thousandths of a watt. The transmission media determines the strength of the signal, but has nothing to do with the picture and sound that you really want to see. That is the information in the signal, and it's the same no matter what the power is. The information part of Qi is extremely important, because that's the part that allows Qi to manifest as rocks, frogs, flowers, dogs, cats, and people, you can think of our universe as a huge three dimensional television set that plays the channels of information in the Qi.

The Human Aura

It's surprising how similar the picture of the human aura is from culture to culture… and the model presented here is, for the most part, universally agreed to. As with the name Qi, the different portions of the human energy field are called different things, but the notions are the same. At the most subtle level, human beings are connected to the universe by a countless number of energetic threads. In ayurevedic medicine these threads are called the nadis. The nadis are literally our information tie to the universe. Humans are in a state of constant communication back and forth with the universe via the nadis… and actually, each person is fundamentally the same as the universe. They are more like whirlpools in water. They appear to be individual entities, but they are actually made of the same stuff as the water. From a modern physics frame of reference, at this subtle level people are constantly exchanging sub-atomic particles with each other, the world, and the universe.

The mental energy body represents energetic information at a somewhat denser level. The mental body can be detected at a distance from the gross physical body. It’s the world that is created by the ideas within your mind. This is a new concept for many people, but it is best articulated in the Buddhist idea of the mind as being another organ of perception. Your eyes see the photons emitted by an object, but it’s really just a collection of neurological signals. It’s the mind that puts these signals together. It says… this is flat, has four legs, and made of wood. It must be a "Table". If you think about it it's easy to see how strong these mental ideas are at influencing our view of the world. In fact, we live in a world of mental abstractions. Take the idea of “freedom” for example. This is a very powerful idea, yet it is completely abstract. There is nothing that we can grasp and say, “This is a freedom.” in the same way we can grasp a rock and say “This is a rock.” But look at the human effort that has been bound to the idea of freedom. Wars have been fought over this idea.

At a little denser level is the emotional body. As the name suggests, this is the region in which the emotions come into play. The emotional body can be detected a little closer to the physical body. But that needs some explanation. The nature of computer screens and paper diagrams is that these different components of the human energy field look like layers of an onion. That really isn’t the case. They all go all the way into the body, but the less dense they are, the further they extend out from the body. So, the emotional body doesn’t extend out as far as the mental body, and the mental body doesn’t extend out as far as the nadis. Yet, they all permeate the physical body.

The physical energetic body is energy at a still denser plane of existence. The best way to think of this part of the energy field is as an energetic mold for the actual physical body. You can think of the physical molecules and DNA as being poured into this energetic mold to form the human physical body.

The gross physical body exists at the most dense plane of existence. So, the subtle energy of the nadis actually descends into matter. Now consider for a moment that the western medical point of view is that the matter and DNA and body come first and any energy like that detected by an EKG or EEG comes from the body. This is really the opposite viewpoint. Western Medicine does not even acknowledge the human aura energy body.

It’s critically important to understand that when it comes to Qi, subtle energy rules over dense energy. The fact is that strong emotions can have adverse effects on the human body itself and can be an important factor in disease. In the same way, mental distortions like those found in what is called schizophrenia can influence the emotions and the physical body.

What is it that makes quarks and electrons and protons and other multi-dimensional vibrational constituents of the universe figure out how to become boulders, trees, trains, and people? Science doesn’t know. That returns us to the information component of energy. The thing that makes you manifest the physical body you have manifested is the informational component of the Qi manifesting through the nadis, the mental energy body, the emotional energy body, the physical energy body, and the physical body. You tune in to the network of your own universal blueprint. So in a very real sense, the energetic information is the precursor to the DNA code. The human energy field is a unified system for processing that information.

The Chakras

The chakras each work with specific frequencies of information and act as the central circulation point for that type of information. For example, the heart chakra processes and distributes information related to emotions and the sixth chakra processes and distributes information relation to the mind. Each chakra functions in all the energy bodies, so, for example, the heart chakra distributes information related to ideas about emotions, actual emotions, and information concerning the physical heart. Chinese Medicine associates the physical heart and the heart meridian to the emotion of joy. Joy related information is processed and distributed by the heart chakra. At the mental body level, the heart chakra processes information concerning ideas like “playing with a puppy is joyful.” At the emotional level, the heart chakra processes the happiness when you touch or even think of a puppy. On the physical level, the heart chakra moves the right information into the heart meridian and produces physical reactions like increased heart rate when you see a puppy. Each chakra focuses on specific types of information. You can think of that as different stations on a TV set. Even so, the chakras are interconnected into the shushumna channel, which is the main energetic information conduit in the body.

Acupuncture Meridians

The acupuncture meridians reside in the physical energy body. The extraordinary meridians are often called vessels. They provide energy to the main meridian rivers of energy as needed. When considered from an information point of view, they are buffers for the energetic information. Specifically, they buffer the information between the shushumna and chakra system and the main acupuncture meridians. Returning to the television metaphor, the chakras tune into the right station for specific physical organs, they process the energy and store it in the extraordinary meridians, and the extraordinary meridians provide it in usable forms to the twelve main meridians as required. In that way, each part of the physical body gets the specific instructions it needs to do its job correctly.

Theories of Disease and Treatment

The traditional viewpoint of Chinese Medicine is that the flow of energy in the meridians can be too weak, too strong, blocked, or reversed. That is what causes disease and physical ailments. That takes a strictly power viewpoint about energy. When considering the information that the energy contains the information can be received, not received, or distorted. Healthy energy would correspond to information received. Too weak and blocked would correspond to information not received. Too strong and reversed energy would refer to information distorted. The information theory of disease is that illness manifests when the correct information is not received. In other words, for an organ to work correctly it must receive the correct instructions.

Thinking of human energy from an informational instead of a force point of view may appear to be a subtle difference, but it allows alternative healthcare professionals to understand ailments in both traditional and new ways. Information that is received or not received fits nicely with both traditional acupuncture and chakra balancing. In those modalities, the problem is seen as an imbalance in the amount of energy and the healing task is to bring everything into a state of balance so that everything is receiving exactly the proper amount of energy and information that it should receive.

The intriguing additional insight in the informational viewpoint arises in the idea of distorted information. There really is no similar concept in either acupuncture or chakra balancing. The basic notion is that the flow and amount of energy is ok, but somehow the information the energy contains is corrupted. That means that an organ may be receiving the proper amount of energy, but the instructions it is receiving are somehow erroneous, and that causes the organ to function incorrectly. The information corruption theory applies anywhere in the entire energy field and the implication is that it can lead to an effective treatment strategy for problems ranging from mental illness to stress to emotional trauma. For example, consider a young child that has witnessed an extremely traumatic event like the death of a parent. Chinese Medicine associates grief with the lung meridian. So, you might see asthma or another lung weakness developing in the child. The Chinese Medicine treatment strategy would be to strengthen the energy flow in the lung meridian. Yet the child might develop other lung ailments or emotional or mental problems. Somehow the Chinese approach is limited.

Viewing the same traumatic event from an informational point of view results in the observation that such an event might leave a permanently distorting injury anywhere in the human energy field of the child. For example, it might be in the emotional energy body. Energetic information that flows from the mental energy body would be mistranslated in the emotional body and the instructions flowing into the physical energy body would be distorted and incorrect. That means the extraordinary and main meridians would transmit distorted instructions to the physical organs including the lungs. The informational point of view might seem like a small difference, but it has significant treatment implications. Instead of treating the amount of energy flowing to the lungs or, worse yet, treating the lungs with medications, the most effective treatment is to remove the effect of the distorting injury, called an impact event, from the emotional energy body. Unless that impact event is effectively treated, the child would continue to experience different physical, emotional, or mental symptoms throughout life.

Human Rights Education

I don't believe that our leaders want any of us regardless of race or nationality to be aware of our human rights. Why? Because we have all been violated. (Nicholas Busbee)

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights the full text of which appears in the following pages.

Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories."

Below is a partial list of your undeniable human rights. These are real laws that are enforceable in all countries that are members of the United Nations.

Article 23. (1) Everyone has the right to work, to free choice of employment, to just and favourable conditions of work and to protection against unemployment.

Article 30. Nothing in this Declaration may be interpreted as implying for any State, group or person any right to engage in any activity or to perform any act aimed at the destruction of any of the rights and freedoms set forth herein. (End)

Read your human rights these are real laws. The same laws that war criminals are judged with. African Americans you are a good standing member of the International community. We are not on a island. That's what our leaders don't want us to realize.

Our so called "civil rights" leaders only want us to look to them for leadership. So they can continue to get paid. They've never worked real jobs. And some who claim to be preachers have no church. What kind of preacher called by God doesn't preach the gospel?

An imposter! Cowards. They hide behind their bibles, say and do just enough to get on TV. And we continue to sing and march for the freedom we and all American's have had since 1948!

After reading your "human rights" tell me why we ever needed the "civil rights" movement. All we ever needed were these rights to be enforced. Our so called college educated and world traveled civil rights leader's know this now, and they knew it then.

But our so called leaders don't want us to even think about our true rights as human beings. The "civil rights" movement has been profitable for them. Plain and simple. They will never "rock the boat."

They have become wealthy and famous patronizing our struggle. Honored guest on talk shows and at the white house. But our situation hasn't changed.

We have an African American President who can't even appear to be overly concerned with the injustice's that are hurled at African Americans everyday. If he did do the right thing he would be accused of being "too Black." And his political career would be over as fluently as it started.

I don't believe that our leaders want any of us regardless of race or nationality to be aware of our human rights. Why? Because we have all been violated.

Human rights situation

To total it up in a elementary sentence, the study of the human anatomy is the scientific study of the human body. At present this is where the word casual stops. Once you start your studies, there is no uncertainty that once you study the first few lines of the foundation you are going to ask ,what did I put myself into . Don't scared.

The knowledge you are starting to have from the study of the human anatomy, with join and associate into a coordinated style just as the human body does.

You will shortly learn that you study a set of facts it will take you onto a new set of facts. If you study in blocks of facts, before you recognise it you are starting to have a very particular base in the study of medication. It Is very much like operating on a jig saw puzzle. You do all the frames then start taking in the pieces. it's the corresponding with your studies.

The fundamental principles are your margins, then all the systems and functions are the pieces. Thinking about it this way maybe takes away some of the panic and doubts you are now experiencing. You will get frustrated along the way. You have probably often been told take one day at a time, now I am suggesting that you take one body section at time. Before you know it you will standing in front of a group of people proudly accepting your diploma.

Its fascinating to notice that when a scholar is reading the human anatomy and someone asks what are they studying. That individual will say, oh I am going to be a Doctor or nurse,etc . They will distinguish the profession as matched to the study. Very rarely will you see them say I am analysing the human anatomy.

Starting on with your studies will most likely begin with your foundation. Right from the start you are going to study a entire different language, being medical terminology. There is no escaping from it. If you are going to be entering the medical world then you need to know how to talk in the medical world. If you do not, you will get all lost, and will more than probably fail your course. Once again this is not so challenging if you set up numerous learning patterns. Let me give you an instance.

You will read the scientific study of the morphology of the human body.

Great the starting sentence and the first medical word morphology. So now what do you do. No question you will have numerous medical resources that has a terminology division. Set Out there, look up the word morphology. Does it say in reasonably casual terms that it is the study of external visual aspect. Like the shape ,structure, color, pattern of an organism.

Ok now rewrite the introductory sentence in easier terms, like this, The scientific study of the (morphology) which is the external appearance of an organism, such as the shape ,structure, color, and pattern. Congratulations you just clear your 1st medical term. Instantly how do you remember? Write this sentence on a study paper, both ways, just as we did here. Highlighting the medical word with a yellow marker. At Present when it gets time to study you have your block. Remember as we previously wrote, learn in cubes? This is a perfect illustration.
